(Fred von Lohmann)
At May 12 hearing, the following Congressmen demonstrated a real understanding of why H.R. 107 matters to consumers, to libraries, to researchers, and to competition:

Chairman Joe Barton (TX's 6th District)

Chairman Cliff Stearns (FL's 6th District)

Rep. Janice Schakowsky (IL's 9th District)

Rep. Jim Davis (FL's 11th District)

Rep. John Shimkus (IL's 19th District)

Rep. Charlie Gonzalez (TX's 20th District)

Rep. Rick Boucher (VA's 9th District)

Rep. John Doolittle (CA's 4th District)

If you live in their districts, or know anyone who does, write to thank them and urge them to stay the course and restore our fair use rights (click on their names for contact info). For members of Congress, saying positive things about H.R. 107 is not without its price -- I guarantee that each one of them will be visited by a cadre of lobbyists from the RIAA, MPAA, BSA and others paid to pitch for Big Content. Support from constituents gives them a reason to stand firm.

As someone who used to work for a Senator, I tell you from personal experience that this can make a difference. And if you haven't done so already, click this link and send a letter ask your Representative to cosponsor H.R. 107.
